Eric G. Moran

Lieutenant Colonel

Lieutenant Colonel Eric G. Moran is the Director of Operations for the 99th Airlift Squadron, 89th Operations Group, 89th Airlift Wing, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. The 99th Airlift Squadron provides worldwide airlift for high-level United States government officials including the President and Vice President of the United States, members of the Cabinet and Congress, and other dignitaries. The squadron operates the C-37A aircraft. Colonel Moran has served as the squadron’s Commander during Lieutenant Colonel duties.

Upon completing the 2-year Reserve Officer Training Corps course at Birmingham Southern College in 1984, Lieutenant Colonel Moran attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. He was assigned to the 99th Airlift Squadron at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland flying the C-21A aircraft. In 1991, he transitioned to the C-9A aircraft.

Lieutenant Colonel Moran returned to the 99th Airlift Squadron and was selected as an executive officer and squadron assistant operations officer. In 1996, he was assigned to Headquarters U.S. Air Force as a Presidential Pilot and has served in various leadership positions within the 89th Airlift Wing. In 1999, he returned to the 99th Airlift Squadron and has served as Director of Operations and Acting Commander.

Lieutenant Colonel Moran has flown combat support missions in Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. He has accumulated more than 5,000 flying hours in four types of Air Force aircraft: T-37, T-38, C-141B, C-9A, and C-21A.

Lieutenant Colonel Moran is married to the former Dori L. Saunders and they have three children: Brian, Erin, and Leah.
