HONORING PRIVATE KARL KNIGHT

16th Raise The Roof
Honoring US Army Private Karl Knight

This is a bittersweet occasion for the Knight Family and Operation Raise The Roof. During the selection process Mr. Knight passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2021. We felt it was important to continue what Karl Knight started so long ago… which was to provide a safe and secure home for his family. Pvt. Karl Knight, US Army. Mr. Knight’s Family received a brand-new roof at his residence in Pikesville, Maryland, on July 15th.

On Thursday, March 4, 2021, God called His loving servant, Karl Knight, home to his reward of eternal life. With the comfort of loved ones, he transitioned at Northwest Hospital Baltimore County, Maryland at 93 years old.

Mr. Knight was born on April 27, 1927, in Greenville, North Carolina. On August 7, 1945, Karl Knight was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps which became the United States Air Force and was also inducted at Fort Bragg Army Base near Fayetteville, North Carolina. He served overseas in the Philippines under General Douglas MacArthur and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1948, in New York.

After his discharge, he began work as a United States Postal Clerk for the next thirty years, where he retired and became a stay-at-home dad and husband to his wife and daughter. Karl Knight was both a hero and a role model for his neighborhood.
